PERSONAL BOUDOIR

When I was a teenager, I had my first ever photoshoot. A mutual friend of mine asked if I wanted to take some pictures out in nature and I obliged. I didn't think that photoshoot would have such an impact on me but after that day, I was hooked. I was so ready to get in front of a camera again! I ended up taking a few images for a low rider magazine. Though that style of photography ultimately wasn't my style, I was proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone. Since that first photography experience, I have been in front of many lenses, including my own self-portraits. Every single experience has made me that much more confident and connected with myself.

THE PATH OF SELF DISCOVERY

Here are some of my favorite images from a few of my sessions!

These images are 9 years old! This is what inspired me to continue on my journey to take beautiful, interesting, and/or creative images of myself.

In 2018 I had a session with a lovely photographer who helped me in my own career by letting me come along to a few of her wedding shoots when I first started shooting. Liza Head of Juniper Spring Photography is not only a wedding photographer, but a sweet and special human being. When she isn't shooting weddings, she is making women feel incredible through her creative flower and/or milk baths! We ended up taking a few images boudoir style, then hopped into her mini pool for some water portraits!

I went to Vegas in 2019 for a conference with other boudoir photographers! It is an amazing way for us to meet each other and also attend continuing education! While I was there, I was shot by Shannon Dougherty! She is such a sweet human being and I was thrilled with the experience!

Self-portraiture, for me, has always been the intention of capturing who I am in that very moment. Whether I am wearing fancy clothes and makeup or I haven't showered in 2 days, I get to step in front of the lens and strip myself. I am able to be my raw, uncensored, authentic form and let my inner child play!

I feel incredibly inspired when I am alone in front of my lens. It allows me to portray on camera all my inner feelings and emotions without hesitation or distraction. It has allowed me to accept myself. When I began to step in front of my own camera and connect to the girl mirroring me, this is when my most self-actualized moments have happened. When I am by myself, with myself, I am free.
